An alternative to Quantros Safety Suite for healthcare safety reporting

For patient safety, quality and risk leaders reviewing their reporting platform

RLDatix acquired the Quantros patient safety business in 2019, and Safety Suite customers moved to RLDatix. If your organization still runs Safety Suite, this page covers what to ask about support and upgrade paths, what to compare, and how ImprovementFlow approaches safety reporting.

Key takeaways

  • Quantros Safety Suite customers transitioned to RLDatix in 2019; Quantros's other businesses kept the Quantros brand.
  • Start by asking RLDatix for its support and upgrade commitments for the version you run.
  • Compare staying, moving to RLDatix's current platform and switching vendors on the same questions.
  • Bring your category list and severity scale to every demo so you see your own workflow.

Where Quantros Safety Suite stands today

Quantros built its Safety Suite for US hospitals and health systems, and reported more than 800 hospital and health system customers in 2019. That October, RLDatix acquired the Quantros patient safety business. Safety Suite customers transitioned to RLDatix, along with the Quantros staff who supported them, while Quantros's other business units continued under the Quantros brand.

If your organization still runs Safety Suite, a review usually starts with a practical question: what are RLDatix's support and roadmap commitments for the version you use? With that answer, you can compare staying put, moving to RLDatix's current platform, or choosing another vendor.

Teams that look beyond RLDatix usually weigh scope (how much of a broad platform they will use), who can make routine configuration changes, and how long implementation will take with the staff they have.

Questions to ask in any evaluation

Put the same questions to every option, including us, and get the answers in writing.

  • What support and upgrade path does RLDatix offer for the Safety Suite version we run, and for how long?
  • If we move, which of our categories, forms and reports carry over, and who does the mapping?
  • How will frontline staff report from phones and shared devices on the unit?
  • How will reporters hear what happened with their reports?
  • Are HIPAA compliance, a BAA and SSO included, or priced separately?

ImprovementFlow

Safety Reporting

Safety Reporting gives staff a short form on any device or a QR code on the unit, routes each event to the team that reviews it, and lets reviewers open a linked A3 improvement project when a pattern needs real work.

How ImprovementFlow compares

ImprovementFlow is focused on safety reporting and the improvement work that follows. Staff report from any device or a QR code on the unit; each report is routed by event type, department and severity; and reviewers work it with an owner, a status and tags.

Event categories, templates and routing rules are configured for your organization. We set them up with you in the first two weeks; after that, your quality team changes event types, forms, categories and routing itself, without IT, as patterns emerge on your pilot units.

When a pattern needs more than a quick fix, reviewers can open a linked A3 improvement project from the report, and the same platform runs quality metrics and tiered huddle boards.

Bringing your records across

Bring your Safety Suite category list, severity scale and review structure; we configure ImprovementFlow around them. We import your past records from a Safety Suite export, so your trend history continues; decide how much history you need for trending.

What ImprovementFlow includes

  • Reporting from a phone, tablet, desktop, kiosk or QR code on the unit, as a named person, a team or anonymously
  • Routing by event type, department and severity to the team that reviews it
  • An owner, status, severity and tags on every event, with feedback to named reporters
  • Event types, forms, categories and routing your team changes itself, without IT
  • Past records imported from your previous system, spreadsheets or paper archives
  • Linked A3 improvement projects when a pattern needs real work
  • HIPAA compliance, a BAA and SSO included in every package
