Key takeaways
- DatixWeb and DatixCloudIQ are on NHS England's list of systems approved to submit to LFPSE.
- In North America, RLDatix sells its RLD360 platform; confirm which product would be proposed to you.
- Check any system's categories against the CoPs, the Joint Commission sentinel event policy, state rules and, for PSO reporting, the AHRQ Common Formats.
Where Datix fits
Datix was founded in London in 1986 and has been part of RLDatix since its 2018 merger with RL Solutions. Its current products, DatixWeb and the cloud-based DatixCloudIQ (DCIQ), are used by many NHS organizations and are on NHS England's list of local risk management systems approved to submit to its Learn from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE) service.
That fit with NHS reporting is a real strength for UK organizations. In North America, RLDatix sells its RLD360 platform, which grew out of RL Solutions. US teams that come across Datix should confirm which RLDatix product would actually be proposed for them, and evaluate that one.
Whatever the product, US organizations should check how its event categories and workflows map to what they report against: the Medicare Conditions of Participation for quality assessment and performance improvement (42 CFR 482.21), the Joint Commission's sentinel event policy, any state adverse event reporting, and the AHRQ Common Formats if they report to a Patient Safety Organization.

Questions to ask in any evaluation
Put the same questions to every option, including us, and get the answers in writing.
- Which product would the vendor actually implement for a US organization like ours?
- How do its categories and severity scales map to the CoPs, Joint Commission sentinel event policy and our state's reporting rules?
- Can we export events in the AHRQ Common Formats if we report to a Patient Safety Organization?
- What does implementation include, and how long does it take for an organization our size?
ImprovementFlow
Safety Reporting
Safety Reporting is configured around your own event categories, severity levels and review structure, so each report reaches the team that reviews it in the terms you report against.
How ImprovementFlow compares
ImprovementFlow is configured around your own event categories, severity levels and review structure, so the categories match what you report against rather than a default taxonomy. When those requirements change, your team updates event types, forms, categories and routing itself, without IT.
Staff report from any device or a QR code on the unit; reports are routed by event type, department and severity; and each event carries an owner, a status and tags. Named reporters hear what was done.
When a pattern needs real work, reviewers open a linked A3 improvement project from the report. Quality metrics and tiered huddle boards run on the same platform, and HIPAA compliance, a BAA and SSO are included in every package.
Bringing your records across
Bring your category list, severity scale and review structure; we set up ImprovementFlow around them with you. We import your past records from a Datix export, so your trend history continues.

Frequently asked questions
- How is ImprovementFlow priced?
- Pricing is by program bundle, not per user, and HIPAA compliance, a BAA and SAML/SSO are included in every package. We don't publish prices on comparison pages. See the /pilot page for details.
- How does moving from Datix work?
- We start from the event categories, severity levels and review structure you already use, and set up categories and routing rules with you. Implementation support and training are included in every package. In a 90-day pilot, setup takes the first two weeks and staff start reporting on real data in week 3. We import your past records from your current system, spreadsheets or paper archives, so your trend history comes with you. After setup, your team changes event types, forms, categories and routing itself, without IT.
- Can we pilot ImprovementFlow before fully switching from Datix?
- Yes. The 90-day pilot runs ImprovementFlow on a single program at a defined scope, with success criteria agreed at kickoff. See the /pilot page for details.
